Transfer Update: Still no ‘suitable offers’ for Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Özil

Welcome to today’s Transfer Update…

A report from TuttoMercato has claimed that Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira will complete a move to Atlético Madrid in the next few days.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates this window after failing to establish himself as a regular feature of Mikel Arteta’s plans. The Uruguayan did communicate that he wanted to return to Italy, but with Torino unable to finance a deal for him it looks as though he will now join Atlético Madrid.

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports has suggested that though Arsenal are keen to offload Mesut Özil, they are yet to receive a ‘suitable offer’ for the creative midfielder.

Özil has been left out of the Arsenal squad for quite some time now as it looks as though he and Mikel Arteta may have had a falling out. Arsenal are desperate to offload the 31-year-old given his high wages.

According to outlet Foot Mercato, Marseille have expressed an interest in loaning Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

The out of favour 21-year-old has been frozen out of the Arsenal squad after a behind the scenes disagreement with Mikel Arteta. Though Arsenal have made it clear that they wish to offload the player permanently, Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful of securing a loan deal before the window is up.
