Arsenal fans got to see the first glimpse of Thomas Partey in action since his deadline-day move from Atlético Madrid, albeit in a Ghana kit.

The 27-year-old played in a midfield three, something he could do under Mikel Arteta, but it proved to be a poor performance from the Black Stars as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Mali.

Partey. Caps: 27. Goals: 9.

Granit Xhaka captained Switzerland to a narrow 1-0 Nations League defeat to Spain, who left Dani Ceballos on the bench.

The Swiss made his 85th cap for his country but couldn’t mark that milestone with a victory.

The loss leaves Switzerland propping up the table in League A Group Four.

Xhaka. Caps: 85. Goals: 12.

Sead Kolašinac came on at half time to help Bosnia & Herzegovina claim a credible goalless draw against the Netherlands.

The defender replaced Advan Kadušić at the break and played his part in an impressive defensive performance to keep the Dutch off the scoresheet in the Nations League.

The draw leaves Bosnia & Herzegovina bottom of League A Group One after three games.

Kolašinac. Caps: 33.

Bernd Leno (Germany), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (England) and Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson (Iceland) were all unused substitutes while Bukayo Saka (England) didn’t even make the bench.

Mattéo Guendouzi (France U21) is set for another run-out in the U21 European Championship qualifier tonight against Slovakia U21 while Partey is in action again today as Ghana take on Qatar in a friendly
