Transfer Update: Atlético Madrid to stand firm on Thomas Partey deal

Welcome to today’s Transfer Update…

According to football correspondent Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal will have to pay Thomas Partey’s release clause fee in full if they are to sign him. Atlético Madrid have recently agreed a deal with Juventus worth £49.5m for Alvaro Morata and no longer need to offload a key player to raise funds.

Arsenal were hoping that they could use Torreira to lower the price of Partey but the Madrid club have expressed that they are only interested in loaning the Uruguayan midfielder.

A report from Le10 Sport has claimed that Arsenal are set to move in on Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. The 22-year-old has been a target for Arsenal throughout the summer window and with under two weeks to go until the transfer deadline it seems as though Arsenal are finally ready to make this transfer happen.

Arsenal are currently trying to offload Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in order to help fund the move but have so far been unable to do so.

Football London have reported that Arsenal are ready to listen to offers for 28-year-old centre half Shkodran Mustafi. Arteta looked as though he wanted to keep Mustafi but now it seems Arsenal are willing to let him go in an attempt to raise funds.

The Gunners signed Gabriel just a few weeks ago and now have Saliba back at the club leaving Arsenal overloaded with numbers in the defensive third.
